Making Live Journal Icon 1 (using screen Caps)

1. Open any kind of picture (do not use low quality pictures). Mine is a screen capture from a French movie. Taken from this site. Press CTRL+A (select all) and then press CTRL+C (copy).

2. Create a 100x100 pixels canvas board. File > New > set the size to 100x100 pixels > OK.

3. Press CTRL+V (paste). As you may see, the picture doesn't fit the canvas, so resize it. Go to Edit > Transform > Scale. And resize it. Before you resize it, activate the chain tool . Why should? So when you resize the picture it'll be still proportional.

4. After you get the desirable size to fit the canvas, press enter on the keyboard.

5. Sharpen the picture so you will get a scattered effect. Go to Filer > Sharpen > Sharpen.

6. And then, create a new layer. Just click at the icon second from right.

7. Click on the color palette and choose this color #bd937b. Use the paint bucket tool and paint the background. In case you can't find the paint bucket tool, look for the gradient tool , press and hold it until it change into paint bucket tool.

8. Set the Layer 2 which is the #bd937b into Soft Light.

9. Your pictures will be like this.

10. Create a new layer again. Choose this color #4a413b using the color palette. After that, use the paint bucket tool and paint it. Set the layer into Linear Light and set the Opacity into 40%.

11. Now, activate the Layer 1. Right click on it, and then "Duplicate Layer" and press OK. As you will see in the Layer window, Layer 1 will be something like this.

12. Activate the Layer 1 copy, click and hold it, bring it into the top of all layer.

13. Set Layer 1 copy into "Screen".

14. Your picture will be like this. The colors makes it looks cute doesn't it.

15. Add some text and you're done.
